Travis Scott allegedly used a significant portion of his 2023 collaboration with SZA and Future, “Telekinesis,” without authorization — or so claims one songwriter.
Victory Boyd, an artist under Roc Nation, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (January 8) in federal court in New York against Scott, SZA, Future, and the other credited songwriters for the song, as well as watchmakers Audemars Piguet. She asserts that “Telekinesis” incorporates elements of her song “Like The Way It Sounds” without authorization.
Boyd states that in November 2019, she composed “Like The Way It Sounds” and subsequently shared it with Kanye West. She subsequently claims that West, who isn’t mentioned in the lawsuit, played Boyd’s song for Scott, and that Scott then shared it with Future and SZA, leading to the creation of “Telekinesis.”
The lawsuit alleges that Scott’s song incorporates elements from “Like The Way It Sounds,” asserting that the hook in “Telekinesis” features lyrics that are “directly copied” from Boyd’s song.
Audemars Piguet is involved because, according to Boyd, the brand incorporated Scott’s song in an advertisement despite her denying permission.

In favor of Boyd — a fact she highlights in the lawsuit — is that she is currently recognized as one of the song’s composers on Spotify — details she claims in the suit were provided directly by those she is suing. She also asserts that she was recently presented with an eight percent share in the song.

In an interview with Palm Springs’ The Desert Sun, he commented on Travis’ forthcoming performance: “That should be quite intriguing.” He outlined what he intends to accomplish.
“It’s somewhat premature to provide specifics, but I believe it’s the most important experience the festival has ever witnessed.” “Anything that allows you to explore and observe something fascinating embodies the essence of discovery.”
The Utopia rapper is set to headline the Saturday night performances during the two-weekend festival (April 12 and 19), offering what Tollett referred to as “an exclusive immersive experience situated close to the Sonora Tent.”
