Tory Lanez was given a five-year restraining order by Megan Thee Stallion.
Megan Thee Stallion has been given a five-year restraining order against jailed rapper Tory Lanez, set to expire on Jan. 9, 2030.
Megan alleges that Lanez (whose real name is Daystar Peterson) has been tormenting her from prison while he is serving a 10-year sentence related to a July 2020 event where he fired at her feet. Judge Richard Bloom affirmed the order on Thursday, stating that Megan had “met the burden of proof” to approve the motion.
Megan’s petition for a restraining order characterized Lanez as a “dangerous and violent offender” with a “proven pattern of conduct [illustrating] the need for this civil harassment restraining order to safeguard Ms. Pete and her welfare.” Prior to this filing, Megan was operating under an order that was valid only from 2020 to 2023.
Megan’s petition for a restraining order also alleged that Lanez used third-party “bloggers” to slander her during his time in prison.
Megan testified via video call and seemed to be in a condition of emotional distress, according to court reporter Meghann Cuniff, who was present at the hearing on Thursday in the Los Angeles courtroom. Cuniff remarked that Megan was anxious about the potential consequences she might face after Lanez was released. Megan is cited expressing, “I worry that he might shoot me again, and perhaps I won’t survive this time.”
Lanez received a 10-year prison sentence in December 2022 for three felony charges. In her documentary “Megan Thee Stallion: Her Words,” which premiered on Prime Video in late October, Megan talked about the horror of the incident.
“I genuinely believed that after he was sentenced and sent to jail, I would become a new woman, feeling fantastic and finally be the Megan Thee Stallion I had always aspired to be,” she mentioned in the documentary. “Negative.” Every day, I still have to confront people who are angry with me for sharing what I experienced.
