“The Day of the Jackal” by Eddie Redmayne has been renewed for a second season

Peacock and Sky have announced the renewal of their original thriller series “The Day of the Jackal” for a second season, featuring Eddie Redmayne.

The show is focused on the main character Jackal (played by Redmayne), a versatile assassin who earns money by completing high-paying assassination tasks, according to the summary of the show. However, after his most recent murder, he encounters a determined British spy (Lashana Lynch) who begins pursuing him across Europe in an exciting game of cat-and-mouse, causing chaos along the way.

“The Day of the Jackal” premiered on November 14 and received praise from both critics and audiences, selling to nearly 200 territories globally. In their review for Variety, critic Aramide Tinubu described it as an “extremely captivating drama,” noting that the series is meticulously crafted and filled with exquisite details, making it a thrilling journey all the way to the conclusion.

The 10-part series is currently being broadcast, with the final episode scheduled to debut on December 12th.

Redmayne is also an executive producer on “The Day of the Jackal,” working with writer Ronan Bennett and director Brian Kirk. Lynch and Marianne Buckland work together as co-executive producers. Additional executive producers for Carnival Films are Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, along with Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios and Sue Naegle. Frederick Forsyth works as a consulting producer, while Chris Hall is also involved in producing.

Completing the lineup are Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.
