‘Running Point’ Confirmed for Season 2 on Netflix

Netflix has swiftly renewed "Running Point" for a second season.

“Running Point” has quickly secured a renewal for Season 2 on Netflix.

The declaration was shared on Netflix’s official X account on Thursday. The announcement arrives only a week following the series premiere on February 27.

In the statement, series lead Kate Hudson remarked, “An effective basketball team owner understands when to heed the fans.” We understand your feedback, and so did Netflix. “‘Running Point’ is set to return for its second season!” Thank you very much to everyone who has watched the show up to this point! I’m absolutely ecstatic because you’re truly the reason we can return and create another season. “Thank you, and we’ll catch you in the next season!”

Hudson plays the role of Isla Gordon, the wayward daughter of the proprietor of the iconic pro basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves, in the series. However, following her brother’s forced resignation as team president due to a significant scandal, Isla is appointed president. According to the official logline, “Driven and frequently underestimated, Isla must demonstrate to her doubtful brothers, the board, and the broader sports community that she was the correct selection for the role.”

Together with Hudson, the ensemble for the single-camera comedy features Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Jay Ellis, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Max Greenfield, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Roberto Sanchez, Uche Agada, Dane DiLiegro, and Justin Theroux.

“Running Point” comes from the creative minds of writers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen. All three also act as executive producers, with Stassen being the showrunner of the series. Hudson serves as an executive producer alongside his acting role. Jeanie Buss, the president of the Los Angeles Lakers, serves as an executive producer in collaboration with Lakers special projects manager Linda Rambis, alongside Howard Klein from 3 Arts Entertainment who is also an executive producer. Jordan Rambis works as a producer. Warner Bros. Television is the studio, and Kaling along with her Kaling International banner have an overall agreement there.
