Liam Payne‘s recent choice to delay the release of his new music has caused a delay. American singer-songwriter Sam Pounds, who collaborated with Payne on the song “Do No Wrong,” had first stated that the song would be released on November 1. He hoped the song would be a “blessing” to his family and “eclipse the negative echoes” surrounding Payne’s death.
Pounds eventually chose to postpone the publication, though, saying, “It’s not the time yet.” He provided this information on X, stating that he wished to honor Payne’s family’s grief process. “Today I’m going to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members,” he stated.
Pounds made it clear that he wanted the song’s sales to go to a charity that Payne’s family had selected. Even though everyone enjoyed the song, he understood that the family needed to be given the opportunity to grieve in peace. He went on to say, “We are all still mourning the passing of Liam,” and he asked supporters to be patient.
Payne, 31, died earlier this month after he fell from the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from a third-floor balcony. He may have been exposed to cocaine, according to preliminary investigations, but definitive toxicology findings are still pending. During his youthful ascent to prominence, the singer had been candid about his struggles with alcohol and addiction.
Geoff, Payne’s father, went to Argentina to identify his son’s body and is anticipated to return to the UK after local authorities have released it. At first, three versions of “Do No Wrong,” including a cappella and a live mix, were scheduled for release.
Pounds posted the song’s black-and-white artwork, which features a winged angel climbing towards a broken heart, on social media on October 26. Pounds also shared a video of the two of them recording together after Payne’s death was announced, expressing shock at the loss.
In an Instagram story, Pounds initially revealed the song, writing, “I pray that this will be a blessing to the world as Liam has always dreamed.” He also expressed his hope that the music will provide solace to Payne’s loved ones and his family.
March saw the release of Payne’s final single, “Teardrops,” in support of his eagerly awaited second album. However, rumors circulated that his agency and record company had fired him because of poor sales.
Payne spent the summer working on a Netflix project called “Building The Band,” in which he mentored a pop group for the unscripted reality series, however, it’s unclear what the show is now doing.
