Olivia Rodrigo was seen having fun at Old Trafford on Sunday during Manchester United’s Premier League match versus Chelsea.
Before the game started, the pop phenomenon made her entrance by exiting the players’ tunnel and setting up shop on the sidelines.
“Good 4 u @OliviaRodrigo – we hope you enjoy Old Trafford,” Manchester United wrote on social media to acknowledge her attendance and showcase her famous status.
Known for hits like “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U,” Rodrigo arrived at the event wearing a chic yellow coat and dark sunglasses.
She was seated alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, the former manager of Manchester United, during the game, which made her visit much more exciting.
Rodrigo saw Chelsea play Liverpool at Stamford Bridge last season, so this isn’t her first time at a soccer game.
Olivia Rodrigo had the opportunity to meet Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell when she went to Stamford Bridge for her very first football match. “Hey, my name’s Olivia Rodrigo, and today I am at the Bridge for my very first football game,” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram after receiving a Chelsea shirt from Chilwell following the game. I’m glad I was able to come, and I had the finest time.”
Chelsea’s official account responded enthusiastically with the posts “Olivia Rodrigo is a Blue!” and “New Chelsea fan unlocked: Olivia Rodrigo.” Chilwell also posted on social media that he was pleased that Rodrigo had joined the Chelsea team.
Although it was a bit of a surprise, Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s minority owner, was present when Rodrigo made his first appearance at Old Trafford since manager Erik ten Hag was fired the week before.
Rodrigo’s motivation for wanting to see a Chelsea game is still a little unclear. However, while filming his Netflix series ‘House of Guinness’ in nearby Stockport, her boyfriend, actor Louis Partridge, has been spending a lot of time in Manchester lately.
The fact that Rodrigo and Partridge were seen in Manchester’s Ancoats neighborhood in July may indicate that they have a soft spot for the city. When Rodrigo returns to Manchester the following year, she will make a stop at the Co-Op Live Arena as part of her tour.
