Offset Criticizes ‘Racist’ Elon Musk For Backing George Floyd’s Killer Derek Chauvin

Offset has criticized Elon Musk for backing the idea of pardoning Derek Chauvin, the disgraced officer responsible for George Floyd’s death.

On Tuesday (March 4), the Tesla CEO shared a video on X (which he owns) featuring conservative commentator Ben Shapiro advocating for Chauvin’s release from prison.

Musk — who has sway in U.S. politics as the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — apparently endorsed the idea, commenting above it: “Something to consider.”

The ex-Migos rapper expressed his displeasure with Musk endorsing the notion of releasing the convicted murderer and confronted him on Instagram.

“Racist woman messing around in front of Black people,” he commented.

Offset also announced that he would refrain from using Musk’s cars, stating: “Driving Ferrari not Tesla.”

Shapiro has started a petition calling on President Donald Trump to grant a pardon to Chauvin, who was found guilty of murdering Floyd during a widely publicized arrest in 2020 — triggering a surge of Black Lives Matter protests globally.

In a letter directed to Trump, he stated: “We are writing to request that you promptly grant a pardon for Officer Derek Chauvin, who was wrongfully convicted and is presently serving a 22-and-a-half year sentence for the murder of George Floyd and related federal offenses.”

Shapiro asserts that there was “significant overt pressure on the jury to deliver a guilty verdict irrespective of the evidence or any notion of unbiased deliberation.”

He further claims that legislators “made a premature judgment about the trial’s result and turned to national media to exert pressure on the jury to align with their favored storyline.”

Chauvin was found guilty in two distinct trials for infringing on Floyd’s civil rights and for second-degree murder. He is concurrently serving a 21-year sentence and a 22-and-a-half-year sentence for each respective charge.

The ex-Minneapolis officer has consistently tried to contest his conviction and suffered a stabbing in prison in late 2023, though his injuries were not life-threatening.

Floyd’s family has not yet responded to the petition or Musk’s post on X.

Offset isn’t the only rapper to challenge the tech billionaire regarding his political opinions.

Last year, during a performance at Austin City Limits, Tyler, The Creator aimed a jab at Musk by altering the lyrics to his track “911.”

Rather than performing the original line, “Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon Musk,” Tyler altered it to: “Fuck Elon” — which thrilled the audience present.

Musk has also criticized several Hip Hop artists for being against him, including Eminem and Cardi B.
