Netflix is investing in romance this Valentine’s Day with “Melo Movie,” a love drama series featuring “Parasite” star Choi Woo-shik alongside “Strong Girl Bong-soon” actress Park Bo-young. The series is released worldwide on February 14.
The narrative centers around a film reviewer (Choi) who reconnects with a hopeful filmmaker (Park) years after an enigmatic event caused their separation. The ensemble features “Mask Girl” performer Lee Jun-young and “Parasyte: The Grey” actress Jeon So-nee as another duo facing the turbulent challenges of romance and professional aspirations.
Behind the camera, “Hotel del Luna” director Oh Choong-hwan works from a screenplay by “Our Beloved Summer” writer Lee Na-eun. The creative group intends to fuse romance with themes of growing up.
The project signifies another prominent Korean original for Netflix as the platform keeps broadening its K-drama offerings after recent successes such as “A Killer Paradox” and “Daily Dose of Sunshine,” both featuring actors from the “Melo Movie” cast.
The BBC is reviving its popular Saturday night quiz show “Alan Carr’s Picture Slam” for a third season, after impressive ratings for its second season. The quick-paced format, which prompts participants to recognize swift images for a chance to win £10,000 ($12,185), averaged 3.2 million viewers in 2024, with highs reaching 4.1 million.
The show, which premiered in 2023 as the BBC’s top-rated entertainment launch for that year, will begin production this spring at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. Objective Entertainment creates the six-episode series, with executive producers Julie Kelling, Neale Simpson, Ben Shephard, and Toby Stevens.
The broadcaster is now accepting applications from contestants until Feb. 21 for the upcoming season, which is set to be broadcast later this year on BBC One and iPlayer.
