According to the “Barbie” star, Margot Robbie chose to creatively slap Leonardo DiCaprio during her audition for “The Wolf of Wall Street” rather than kiss him.
She humorously noted in a recent episode of the “Talking Pictures” podcast that the outcome was that hitting her scene partner could potentially be considered assault and result in her being arrested.
Thankfully, Robbie indicated that DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, the film’s director, loved it, and she left that audition not just with the part, but also without any restrictions.
“It wasn’t in the script,” Robbie commented on the slap, mentioning the scene with “throwing water in the face” that she was performing with DiCaprio during her audition.

Robbie mentioned that at one stage after they had been improvising, DiCaprio had “gone back to the script and the final line was ‘come over here and kiss me.’”

“In my mind, I thought I could absolutely kiss Leonardo DiCaprio this very moment.” That would be amazing. “I’m really excited to share this with all my friends,” Robbie remembered. “And then I thought, ‘no way.'” “I just slapped him in the face,” she remarked, chuckling.

As Robbie recounted, there was complete silence following that moment, which seemed like forever to her, until Scorsese and DiCaprio suddenly “burst out laughing” and confirmed her by stating, “that was great!”
Nonetheless, Robbie stated that anxiety kicked in. She reflected internally, “you will be taken into custody.” I’m fairly certain that this qualifies as assault and battery. “You won’t just stop working, but you’ll also end up in prison for this.”
Robbie portrayed DiCaprio’s spouse in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” a part that became her significant breakthrough when the movie debuted in cinemas in 2013. It received five nominations for Oscars during that period.

It goes without saying that Robbie never served time for hitting DiCaprio. Instead, she continued to enjoy a successful career in Hollywood as an Oscar-nominated actress and producer.
