According to Kate Bush, she is “extremely keen” to record a new album, saying, “I have a lot of ideas. It has been a while.
The 66-year-old English singer stated that she had “lots of ideas” that she would want to explore in a rare interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today show on Friday. “I can’t wait to get back into that creative space,” she remarked.
King of the Mountain and Babooshka are among Bush’s most well-known hits. She rose to popularity in 1978 with her debut, Wuthering Heights.
When her 1985 hit song “Running Up That Hill” reappeared on Netflix’s Stranger Things and returned to international music charts in 2022, she gained new followers. 50 Words for Snow, released in 2011, was her most recent album.
In order to promote a new short film she developed and directed to collect money for children impacted by war, Bush, who has traditionally avoided the spotlight during her career, spoke to the BBC. The four-minute cartoon, called Little Shrew, promotes donations to the global charity War Child and is set to her 2011 song Snowflake. The movie’s title animal traverses a war-torn city in search of hope.
Bush told the BBC, “I began working on it a couple of years ago, shortly after the Ukrainian war started, and I think it was such a shock for all of us.” “We have all been living in peace for such a long time. And I simply had the need to create a small cartoon to highlight how horrifying it is for kids.

“Not at the moment, but I’ve been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together,” Bush said in response to Today anchor Emma Barnett’s question on whether she was working on new material. And after I finish this, I’m eager to begin working on a new album. It has been a while, but I have a lot of ideas and am eager to get back into that creative space.
Bush said, “Yes, it is, really,” when asked if it was something she had been considering for some time. I feel like I’m ready to start doing something new, especially in the past year.
