J. Cole has dampened hopes for his new album’s imminent release after raising fans’ expectations with a recent blog entry.
In his second entry on his freshly started blog The Algorithm, available on his Inevitable website with his audio series of the same title, Cole refuted claims that he is preparing for an album release and clarified that the blog serves merely as a space for him to share his interests.
“Ib informed me that some individuals believed this blog signaled an upcoming album release,” he stated, mentioning his longtime manager Ibrahim Hamad. “Not really.” Not quite.
“When the moment arrives for something, you will recognize it.” This is something different. I simply wanted a space to share the documentaries I’m watching on YouTube and the songs I really enjoy.
Cole, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Tuesday (January 28), expressed gratitude to fans and friends for their kind wishes: “I appreciate everyone for the love today through the comments, the chats, and the texts I received that I’m attempting to respond to while also enjoying time with family and friends. I truly value it.
The Dreamville artist additionally shared a link to the dancehall song “I Am Blessed” by Mr. Vegas, referring to it as “the anthem for the day.”
J. Cole just started his blog on Monday (January 27) and mentioned in his initial post: “This is simply a space for me to express. I have wanted a small blog for years. A place to share random things I enjoy where the audience is much smaller than on social media platforms. “Finally made the decision, please be patient as we are still working on this page and its layout.”
He also shared a link to L.A. rapper Ahmad’s iconic 1994 song “Back in the Day” and remarked: “I’ve loved this track since I was around 9 years old on Lewis street pleading with my mom for a bike I heard of called a GT performer. Now at midnight, I will be 40 years old. May reserve the sentimental thoughts for a post tomorrow.
“However, to sum it up, I’m THANKFUL.” Wishing you all a joyful new year and may God bless you. “2025 is going to be a positive year.”
Certain fans took his assurance that “2025 will be a good one” as a suggestion that his seventh album The Fall Off will be released this year.
Ultimately, Cole earlier proposed that the much-anticipated project would be released before the fifth and final edition of Dreamville Festival, scheduled for April.

At the end of his 10th anniversary concert for Forest Hills Drive in December 2014 at Madison Square Garden, the artist from North Carolina addressed the audience: “I’ll see you all at Dreamville Festival.” “I’m looking forward to having something fresh to share with you all.”
Initially hinted at five years ago, The Fall Off will act as the sequel to 2021’s The Off-Season and is speculated to be J. Cole’s last album.
