The Glastonbury Festival broke prior records in 2025 when it sold out of tickets in less than 40 minutes, thanks to innovative booking technology. As opposed to the previous practice of updating the holding page, the system now randomly assigns queue spots. Thanking ticket buyers and expressing sadness to those who couldn’t make it, the organizers pledged to resell canceled or returned tickets in the spring of 2025.
The festival’s coach-inclusive tickets had previously sold out in 30 minutes. Demand for the event, which is planned to take place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 25 to 29, was higher than it was the year before when it took an hour or so for tickets to sell out. The cost of tickets this year is £373.50 plus a £5 registration fee, which represents a price rise of £18.50 over last year.
Prices and sales of live concert tickets have generated controversy, particularly after Oasis fans’ turbulent experience earlier this year. Several fans reported that the price of tickets had increased dramatically from around £148 to £355 after standing in virtual queues for hours. This incident has increased broader discontent with ticketing practices in the entertainment industry.
Oasis stated that they would not be performing at Glastonbury or any other event in 2025, despite rumors to the contrary. As the band explained, the only opportunity to see them live would be during their “Oasis Live ’25 World Tour.” This statement came after their tour tickets were made available, which led to speculation about a possible reunion at the festival.
Coldplay, who became the first to perform as the festival’s headline act five times, was joined by SZA and Dua Lipa as the main acts at Glastonbury this year. The event’s high points included their performances on the renowned Pyramid Stage, which further cemented Glastonbury’s standing as one of the top music festivals in the world.
In the future, Glastonbury is anticipated to take a hiatus in 2026, continuing its custom of functioning four times every five years. The purpose of the “fallow year” is to give Worthy Farm’s land time to heal and guarantee the festival site’s viability for upcoming events.
