Child star Rory Callum Sykes perishes in LA wildfire

The wildfires in Los Angeles persist in wreaking havoc throughout California.

Former child star Rory Callum Sykes is included in the increasing tally of victims who have perished in the fires. The Australian actor—known for his role in the British television series Kiddy Kapers—was 32 years old.

The statement, “I must sadly report the passing of my wonderful son @Rorysykes due to the Malibu fires,” was made by his mother Shelley Sykes on January 9, expressing her profound sadness. “I am absolutely heartbroken.” Rory Callum Sykes, an Australian of British descent living in America, is a wonderful boy who was born on July 29, 1992, on both his mother’s and his grandmother’s birthdays.

Rory, who was born blind and had cerebral palsy, faced challenges with walking as per his mother, and resided in a separate cottage on their 17-acre property in Malibu.

As sparks fell onto their house, his mother attempted to dial 911 but couldn’t reach anyone for assistance. “He passed away without reason,” she remarked to Australian source 10 News First. “He said ‘Mom, go away,’ and no mother can abandon her child.”

“I was unable to lift him,” she remarked. “I was unable to move him.”

When emergency responders eventually showed up, the hydrants were dry, and, as she stated on X, “the 50 courageous firefighters had no water throughout the day.”

During his lifetime, Rory was recognized as a warrior. “He went through numerous surgeries and therapies to restore his vision and to relearn how to walk,” wrote Shelley. “Even with the pain, he remained excited about journeying across the globe with me from Africa to Antarctica.”

Recently, he and his mother established Happy Charity, and she described him as “a genuine humanitarian” in her tribute. He regarded himself as the top supporter of @Apple & @tim_cook & most significantly a passionate @RuneScape player.

she expressed, “He will be profoundly missed.”
