As part of her most recent Halloween costume, Beyonce went topless in honor to the legendary duet of Prince and Apollonia.
The 43-year-old superstar, who previously dressed as Betty Davis, posted her second spooky season appearance to Instagram on Friday.
Patricia ‘Apollonia’ Kotero, a Mexican model and the late Purple Rain hitmaker’s protégé who later became her lover, was also an inspiration.
The Single Ladies hitmaker looked stunning in an open tuxedo jacket with a plunging black lace bustier while portraying Apollonia. She then removed the jacket and posed with only metallic purple gloves.
Her interpretation of Prince, on the other hand, had a purple guitar, black lace underwear, and a purple coat with a white frilly top.
She added a purple heart emoji to the caption, which read, “PURPLE NASTY.”
The singer was seen in close-up in another picture, showcasing her amazing form in the low-cut bodysuit.
The mother of three accessorized the ensemble with purple boots that reached her thighs.
She accented her Apollonia look with a big diamond necklace and wore curling raven hair that fell down her shoulders.
She followed it up with Prince, who had short curly hair, sitting on a classic red automobile and holding up her guitar.
One of her followers wrote, ‘ROCK ERA LOADING MAMAMAMMAAAAAA,’ in response to the outfits.
On the post, Khloe Kardashian included several purple heart emojis.
“Beyonrock,” said another admirer.
In Prince’s 1984 film Purple Rain, Apollonia played the major female part as Apollonia 6, which later became the name of her girl band.
After splitting from Prince in 1985, Appollonia was able to maintain her fame by appearing on the soap opera Falcon Crest and releasing an album of the same name in 1988.
Since Prince was seeing Susan Moonsie, another Purple Rain star, while the movie was being made, it is unclear when Apollonia and Prince started dating.
Prince’s classic 1984 track Purple Rain was part of a medley that Prince and Beyonce performed together onstage at the 2004 Grammy Awards.
He accompanied her on the electric guitar during their duet, which also featured her fan favorite song, Crazy In Love.
In a subsequent interview, Prince expressed his opinion of Beyonce’s musical prowess throughout their collaboration.
“I wanted to know how much she knew about music, and I was thrilled to learn that she was well-versed in Egyptian styles, Mixolydian scales, and other things like that,” he said.
She is quite talented, so I was just trying to teach her some piano chords and help her understand that the possibilities are endless if she learns the instrument like Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin.
At the age of just 57, Prince passed away in 2016 after an unintentional overdose.
